Meet Patricia
Patricia Bean is a photographer, educator, and licensed History Guide whose relationship with the camera began before she ever held one herself.
Her father, Ernest Briscoe, studied at the Los Angeles Art Center School in the early 1940s — the same institution where Fred Archer and Ansel Adams developed the Zone System. Patricia grew up steeped in that tradition — the patience, the reverence for light, the belief that a photograph could hold something true about a place — and about the person who stopped to really see it.
Her teaching centers on one principle — that every compelling photograph begins with a clear purpose. Not the camera settings, not the equipment — the intention behind the image. That is what the Intentional Image Method™ teaches.
With more than thirty years behind the lens — from commercial and architectural photography to fine art galleries, from portrait studios to the historic streets of Saint Augustine — she has spent a lifetime in devoted pursuit of that answer.
After years of guiding travelers through Saint Augustine’s most historic neighborhoods, that belief crystallized into the Intentional Image Method™ — a way of seeing that travels with you to any destination, anywhere in the world.
